Who is in the band mudcrutch

Mudcrutch is the band that couldn't be denied. Tom Petty started as a bass player in the Gainesville, Fla. But after one single, the group dissolved, and Petty forged a solo deal. He eventually enlisted former Mudcrutch members Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench for his new backing band, the Heartbreakers. Petty, of course, went on to sell tens of millions of records, but a little piece of him remained with Mudcrutch, which before its demise, migrated to Los Angeles and channeled the country rock feel of the late '60s Byrds, Gram Parsons and the Flying Burrito Brothers.

With Leadon and drummer Randall Marsh rejoining Petty, Tench and Campbell, Mudcrutch finally released its years-overdue self-titled debut album in , and it didn't sound all that far removed from an early Heartbreakers record. With Petty once again on bass and Marsh on drums, there was a little more country swing in the rhythm section, and some twangy guitar interplay between Leadon and Campbell. The house's fuse box also was there, which came in handy when Slater, the only farm resident with a day job, needed sleep.

The band would come home from a gig and start playing "at 2 or in the morning, rehearsing or trying to impress the girls they brought home," Slater recalls. I needed some sleep, so when they came banging on the door for the third time, I ignored them and they had to shut down.
